Safe Kids Worldwide Turns 20!
As we approach the end of our second decade, it’s time to celebrate our history, our accomplishments and 20 years of preventing accidental injuries. Over the course of the year, we will:
Celebrate Our History and Accomplishments
Coalitions, chapters and member countries will be celebrating the network’s success in helping to dramatically reduce accidental injury to children. Watch for special fundraising videos, a celebratory timeline, video and radio PSAs, Leadership Conference events, a special 20th Safe Kids Week, an exciting celebrity spokesperson, and much more.
Anticipate a Bright Future of Declining Childhood Accidental Injuries
Injuries to children are down 43 percent over the past 20 years, but much work needs to be done. Working within the Safe Kids Worldwide network – almost 600 grassroots organizations around the United States, 17 member countries, our headquarters in Washington, D.C., lead agencies, sponsors, government agencies and officials, legislators, the public, and the media -- we will continue to find new ways to increase public awareness of the global public health crisis of childhood injury.
We face the challenges of the next 20 years with determination and optimism. Through education, legislation, public information campaigns, comprehensive programs and the distribution of devices, Safe Kids Worldwide will strive to find innovative ways to eliminate this major threat to children around the globe.
